Heritage Trail Artist at the Bluecoat

The Bluecoat is housed in a unique building of great historical importance
in the heart of the city and will reopen in time for Liverpool's year as
European Capital of Culture in 2008. Following a £12.5 million redevelopment
the Bluecoat will resume its place as Liverpool's cultural hub. The project
will restore the historic fabric of the Grade 1 listed building, and create
a striking new wing containing four new art galleries and a 200-seat
performance space.

We wish to appoint a lead artist (or artists) to develop an imaginative
approach to the interpretation of this fascinating building and its
heritage, in the form of a trail. The trail should use objects, events and
stories from the building's history to inspire and provide reference points
around the building, offering a creative approach to visitors who wish to
learn more about its heritage.

The trail will be used as a framework for the development of tours,
activities and publications. Community engagement will be a vital part of
the process of developing the trail and will involve working with schools
and community groups. The selected artist(s) will be required to undergo an
enhanced CRB check.
